Australian Labradoodle Background
The Labradoodle began in the early 1970's when the Guide Dog Association of Australia began a breeding and research program to produce allergy-friendly guide dogs. Wally Cochran is the founder of the Labradoodle, although credit is usually given to the Guide Dog Association. The combination of the Labrador and Poodle produced allergy-friendly puppies that were very smart and easy to train. As a result of these qualities, the breed soon became desirable as a family pet.
